Endometriosis: What is all the hype.
With an average delay in diagnosis of 7 years and affecting 10% of the female population, Endometriosis must be one of the most under recognised […]
Driven to provide women of all ages in Coffs Harbour, Port Macquarie, Grafton, Taree and the surrounding areas access to the latest treatment options, Dr Budden has established his practice in Coffs Harbour. With consulting suites located in the Coffs Harbour’s Specialist Medical Centre (adjacent to the public hospital) as well as Taree’s Mayo Specialist Centre and an appointment at Baringa Private Hospital, Dr Budden provides non-surgical and minimally invasive surgical treatment options for patients in the public and private system.
With a focus on a high level of dedication to patient care, Dr Budden’s AGES specialist fellowship training allows him to provide leading edge, minimally invasive approaches for conditions that require specialist surgical intervention for highly complex gynaecological conditions.
Also known as laparoscopic or keyhole surgery, minimally invasive surgery results in less surgical trauma than major abdominal surgery and provides patients with quicker recovery times and less scarring – all important factors for busy women at all stages of their life. Dr Budden will discuss your condition with you, ensuring you understand all options and provide an individualised treatment approach designed to suit your needs and lifestyle.
His keen interest in education has led him to publish numerous scientific articles and present regularly at national and international conferences, as well as providing ongoing teaching to medical students through his appointments at the University of NSW and as an Instructor at Advanced Life Support in Obstetrics.
A cornerstone of Dr Budden’s practice is to provide a patient centred collaborative care model with his patients and referrers to enable quick access and assessment for urgent patients.

Different factors make us more vulnerable to different women’s health conditions including our age, social history, family history, prior disease, genetic factors and even lifestyle factors such as exercise, diet and alcohol consumption.
Dr Budden provides treatment and advice for girls and women surrounding women’s health including gynaecological conditions such as heavy or irregular periods, family planning and contraception advice and solutions, fertility issues for women who have been unsuccessful in falling pregnant, and women who have had multiple miscarriages.
His specialist training allows him to provide the latest treatments and minimally invasive surgical interventions for all conditions related to women’s gynaecological health.
One of the key factors in good women’s health is taking a preventative approach for the early detection of any medical issues. Dr Budden believes in a collaborative pro-active model and encourages patients between the ages of 25 – 74 years to undertake Cervical Screening Tests. These should take place every five years – or more regularly if you have returned an abnormal result.
The Cervical Screening Test replaced the Pap Smear in 2017 and takes cell samples from the cervix which are checked for Human Papilloma Virus (HPP) infections, which has certain strains that are strongly related to cervical cancer.
Dr Budden understands that personal discussions around women’s health conditions can be very stressful for women and has the goal during consultation to ensure you feel informed and fully understand all aspects of your condition and the required treatment you will need.
